“Once a month” is the answer you will hear most often, and it is a reasonable default. It is worth knowing where the number comes from, though, because it explains when the default is wrong for you.
Skin renews itself on a cycle. New cells form in the deepest layer of the epidermis, travel upward, and eventually shed from the surface. In younger skin that round trip takes roughly 28 days.
Monthly facials line up with that cycle. You are treating skin that has substantially renewed since the last visit, rather than repeatedly working on the same surface.
This is the part that gets left out. That 28-day figure describes youthful skin. In mature skin the same cycle stretches out to somewhere around 40 to 60 days, depending on age and overall skin health.
Two practical consequences. First, results legitimately take longer to appear — not because a treatment failed, but because the skin carrying that result is slower to reach the surface. Second, a rigid monthly schedule is not automatically the right rhythm for everyone.
If your skin is still slightly sensitive when the next appointment comes round, the gap is too short. That is useful information, not a setback.
A facial is not a substitute for a daily routine, and anyone who tells you otherwise is selling something. What it does well is the work you cannot do at home: proper extraction, professional-strength exfoliation, and someone actually looking at your skin under good light and telling you what has changed since last time.
That last part is underrated. Skin changes with seasons, stress, medication and age. A regular appointment is the only time most people get an informed second opinion on it.
If you have never had a professional facial, do not commit to a schedule on day one. Come once, see how your skin responds over the following fortnight, and set the rhythm from there. Have a look at what we offer and we will work it out together.
